The Anne-Stine Centre
For Handicapped Children
Sekolo Sa Anne-Stine
The centre is named after the youngest daughter of Norwegian Dr
and Ingstad Sandberg. Dr Sandberg was Kweneng District Medical
Officer 1984 - 1985, based in Molepolole. Ingstad undertook an
evaluation of the need for a rehabilitation program in Kwenenang
District for the World Health Organisation. On their way home to
Norway at the end of their contract, Anne-Stine was tradically
killed in an accident. In memory of their daughter the Sandbergs
donated towards the establishment of a centre for handicapped
children.
The Rotary Club of Gaborone has been supporting the centre for
nearly twenty years. We have built class rooms and supplied a
combi bus. In addition we have help with some of the maintenance
of the centre.
