Phase II of Bana ba Keletso Orphan Day Centre was officially opened by Maj. Gen. Moeng Pheto. The construction of an administration building and a multipurpose hall complete with kitchen was a joint project of the Rotary Club of Gaborone and the US Department of Defence.

The dignitaries were US Katherine Canavan , Bakwena Paramount Chief Kgosi Kgari Sechele III, President of the Rotary Club of Gaborone Tony Rees, AG Barney O'Reilly for Botswana, District 9250 and Ellah Mohamadi of Bana ba Keletso.

The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Maj. Gen. Moeng Pheto, was the guest of honour.

Members of the Rotaract Club of Gaborone together with Rtn Keinee Kwerepe travelled to Machaneng in the Central District of Botswana to distribute clothing to the needy. The Rotaract Club had collected over 200 items of 2nd hand clothing for distribution.

The GSE (Group Study Exchange) team from Rotary District 5020 (USA/Canada) visited Gaborone. They were hosted jointly by the Rotary Club of Gaborone and The Rotary Club of Gaborone Tirelo.

President Tony, AG Barney and Rotarian Graham traveled to Zeerust in South Africa on the Saturday morning to collect the team who had been hosted by the Rotary clubs in Rustenberg.

The teams members were taken to the Bull & Bush where they meet the Rotarians that would host them for the next three days. After a late lunch they were taken by their hosts to see places of interest within Gaborone. In the evening they were taken by Tirelo Club to a music festival.

On Sunday morning the team were treaded to a flight of Gaborone by President Tony. This was followed by a braai (barbeque) and then they were taken by the Tirelo Club to the SOS Village.

The Tirelo Club took the team to Camphill Trust in Otse about 50 km south of Gaborone on Monday morning. In the afternoon they were handed over to Rotarian Derek who took them to Kamogelo and then on to the Tshedisa Institute. They were then taken to Princess Marina Hospital where they were given a tour by Rotarian Yash. In the evening they gave a presentation to a joint meeting of the two Gaborone clubs plus the Rotary Club of Lobatse.

At 10 am on Tuesday morning they caught the train to Francistown.

President Tony, PP Mike and Rotarians Graham and Yash travelled to Motswedi Rehabilitation Centre in Mochudi about 40 km north of Gaborone to donate wheelchairs. Consolidations Botswana (Pty) Ltd transported the wheelchairs.

                                                                                                             

18 wheelchairs were donated. 6 to adults, 4 to teenagers and 8 to young children. The following are photographs of the unpacking of the wheelchairs and the handover ceremony.
