24 February 2006 A wine tasting evening was held at the GICC at the Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone by the Club in conjuction with New World Wines Agencies of Johannesburg. The wines presented were Zandvleit and First Sighting. Paul de Wet the Wine Master and owner of Zandvleit flew up from the Cape to impart with some his expert knowledge of the making of wine. A 1.5L bottle and a 3L bottle of Zandvleit Shiraz 2003 were auctioned and the 2 bottles fetched a combined total of BWP 6 000.00 which will go into the Club's charity funds.
4 February 2006 President Tony, PP Brian Thomas, PP Mike Lakin, PP Mark Lane Jones and Rotarian Graham Burt plus wives set off for Serowe to distribute wheelchairs. Serowe is roughly 350 km north of Gaborone. The wheelchairs were donated to the individual recipients at the amphitheater in the Serowe Maul. Our hosts were the Tshidilo Rehabilition Centre.18 wheelchairs of various sizes were handed over to individuals suffering Paraplegia and other ailments. The Rotary Club of Gaborone Thanks Vic Santos of the Spares Shop, Phakalane, Gaborone for the use of his trailer to carry the wheelchairs In the afternoon we moved to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary where we held the official handover of books to their education centre by the Preserve Plant Earth, Botswana Sub Committee. Chairman PP Mike Lakin was joined by Rtn Ron Fish from the Rotary Club of Francistown and Rtn Mike Doug of the Rotary Club of Gaborone Tirelo. The books were donated by the Rotary Club of Kyalami As all the visiting Rotarians were staying the night at Sanctuary a braai was organised. Erwin Hoes PP of the Rotary Club of Nijmegen Stad & Land in the Netherlands who is in Serowe doing volunteer work exchanged club banners with President Tony. (We will be doing a feature on Erwin, his wife Trudeke and family in the coming weeks)

27 January 2006 The food that was so generously donated by the public during the "Collect a Can" project was handed over to Bana ba Keletso and the Kamogelo Day Care Centre. 11 January 2006 The Nation, an independent newspaper in Bangkok, Thailand published a full page article on Kamogelo Day Care Centre.
