27 - 29 May 2007 - Visit of a GSE Team from Canada (District 7010)

The GSE were transported direct from the 9250 District Conference to Gaborone on Sunday by the Rotarians from the two Gaborone clubs that attended the conference. The arrived in the late afternoon and they where met at a local pub and grill by their hosts.

      

On the Monday they were looked after by the Rotary Club of Gaborone Tirelo who took them to a number of their projects. In the evening they attended the meeting of that club.

               

On Tuesday they were in the care of the Rotary Club of Gaborone. In the morning they were taken individual to establishments that were related to their various professions. In the afternoon the went to a nearby game park where they had a picnic followed by a game drive. In the evening they boarded the train which would take them overnight to Francistown where they would be hosted by the local Rotary club.

Freya von Buchlotz, the club's exchange student from Germany, did a presentation to the club of her recent trip to Victoria Falls with Rotarians Mike and Margaret of the Rotary Club of Gaborone-Tirelo. It was obvious that Freya had enjoyed herself and that the views of the Falls were spectacular with the Zambezi River being at it's seasonal high.

                   

 

12 May 2007

Rotarian Ernest Block organized the donation of blankets to the children at the Gamodubu Feeding Scheme. He was joined by 9 other Rotarians, some wives and our Germany exchange student, Freya.

                

                                 

 

150 blankets where handed out as well as a number of toys.

                  

                                 

President Mike Lakin took a fancy to a donkey "Scotch Cart" that was on the grounds. The donkeys were well behaved and did not move at all during the two hours we were there.

A Paul Harris award was presented to Denis Quille who was a former member of the club who had left Botswana in 2005 and was back on a short visit. Denis had left prior to the club being able to present his Paul Harris. AG Lalith Seneratne, who was the President of the Club the year Denis left, presented the award.
